So throwing it way back to the beginning of the semester... we got the WX gang together and camped out for the Boise State football game! We just took shifts so we could keep our spot in line. We met the famous Hail Mary-er, Tanner Mangum (or as ESPN says, "Magnum"), woke up to people screaming "IT'S GAME DAY" and had some interesting experiences with some freshmen next to us.... haha
Unlike last year, this game was actually worth camping out for. (Last year we camped out for the game that Taysom Hill got injured and was then out for the rest of the season). Jonny and I really wanted to get on the kiss cam (or maybe that was just me.. haha) and guess who got on it?? Katie and Zach!! Literally one couple away! We were SO close!! It was pretty funny.
This game was intense and Tanner pulled through with ANOTHER Hail Mary to win the game. Everyone was so stoked that the students stormed the field. The Event Staff had to of course tell us not to, but who was going to actually stop us? Let's be real!
And since we didn't get to be on the kiss cam... we made Katie be our kiss cam. Plus it was definitely a moment worth celebrating. And what better way to celebrate than with a kiss?
We spent a weekend celebrating my mom's birthday. It was fun to have the whole family together, including Grandpa! I don't see him nearly as much as I would like to. Also Jonny has become our official family selfie taker because he has the longest arms. :)
I've been pretty bummed about the amount of time I've been able to spend with my old roomies and pals. I wish I could see them! It's so much harder when you don't live together. And don't mind this creepy picture of me but it's the only documentation I have of us hanging together. We got a group together to go up the canyon and have a fire. It was so fun to be with everyone! I miss them so so much. <3
Warning: If you don't do well with blood... you may not want to continue scrolling. One day I was at work. I was in our satellite office, so I was all alone in the office. I have always had this little bump on my hand and I nicked it. It started bleeding but I figured if I wiped it away it would stop.... but then it wouldn't stop and it started dripping off the side of my hand. I had to stick my hand over the trash can so blood wouldn't go everywhere while I looked around for a tissue or anything really. But there was literally nothing in that office. I tried using a piece of paper, but that obviously failed. So I then decided to rush for the bathroom which was only a few doors down. As I arrived at the bathroom, a janitor was out front putting a "closed for cleaning" sign out. I think I stood there in disbelief at my luck for a moment because she then noticed my blood soaked hand and started freaking out and feeling awful that she had told me to go to a different bathroom. She helped me into the bathroom, helped me wash my hand off and got me a paper towel to last me as she walked me down to the campus first aid office. She was the sweetest lady! They wrapped my hand up tight to stop the bleeding. Afterwards I felt a little sick and light headed, but my hand was totally fine and I went right back to work for the rest of my shift! haha!
Then General Conference weekend came around. We went down to Saint George with the Stuart family. It was a fun and a much needed get-away from school. We of course had to stop at the Beaver giant rocking chair and we got our first picture in it together. :)
Then Homecoming week came around! My parents bought tickets to go see the Homecoming Spectacular with none other but David Archuleta! He has such an amazing voice. I already knew that from watching him on American Idol and of course listening to his music on the radio/iPod, but he is even better live! And he sang "Imagine" which is like my favorite song that he sings. I loved it!! Women's Chorus sang in the Spectacular this year. My first time not being in it with them... it made me really miss it singing with them and the being the amazing girls that are in it.
And here's Katie and I being weirdos... we like doing that together :)
Then my husband did the cutest and most romantic thing. He asked me to go to the formal homecoming dance with him! So we got all dressed up... and then he walked out the front door and knocked so I could answer it and he could "pick me up" for first dance together. He took me to dinner and then to the dance. Then when we got home he dropped me off, gave me a kiss on the doorstep and then let me inside..... and then after I'd closed the door, he came back inside. Since, ya know, we live together.
We went to as many home football games as we could. This is one thing I love about Utah. The weather is awesome for football season AND it gives us beautiful sunsets. I took this panoramic and I love it so much I had to share!
We of course had to carve a pumpkin. We kept it Parks and Rec themed. Sadly, we did it too early in October when Utah decided to stay super hot... so it died after less than a week. But a picture always makes it last longer right?!
Then BYU OneStop Student Services (my work) got together to go to the Cornbelly's Corn Maze at Thanksgiving Point! We went through once without a map with all my work pals, but we solved it pretty quickly (mostly because we broke the rules and cut through all the corn stalks...) But then everyone else decided to go to the haunted corn maze... and we're not about that life. So we stayed in the regular one, but got the clue map this time. Jonny LOVES maps so I let him tell me where to go... because maps are a struggle for me. haha It was a lot of fun! The best part was when a group started catching on that we knew where we were going so they started following us. So Jonny deliberately led us the wrong way and then we hid until they started going the wrong way too. Then when we knew they couldn't see us, we ran the right way! hahaha it was great.
We went out to Sandy to see the one and only Jonny Byrne play the wolf AND Milky White (the cow) in Into the Woods! He was an amazing creepy wolf, and an amazing hilarious cow. Plus it's always fun to hang with Jonny's gang!
Then we had the honor of helping out our pal Zach Watts propose to his lovely now fiancé! He sent her on a scavenger hunt to significant places in their relationship where some people were waiting to give her the clue to the next place at every stop. We got to wait on temple square. It was actually our first time being back there since the wedding so it definitely brought back some good memories. Plus I LOVE temple square. One of my favorite places.
Here we are with the beautiful and glowing fiancé to be! Sarah is so sweet and lovable! We're so excited that she will be stuck with our gang permanently!
Then BYU played Wagner. We were stoked because we walked in like 30 minutes before the game started and got third row seats! But we left by half-time because we were crushing them so bad. It wasn't that fun to watch anymore. haha
Then the Mets went to the World Series! And since the Stuarts (mainly Liz) love the Mets, we of course had to go to New York City to go to some games! Friday everyone went to the baseball game, but I got to spend the night with my pal, Callie Klotz, in "her city." haha Callie showed me around the West Village and then we went to see An American in Paris. Then Saturday, Jonny and I got up early so we could go see the 9/11 Memorial Fountains! They were beautiful as ever. Then we made it back in time to go see The Phantom of the Opera, which is always a classic. That music never ceases to give me the chills! And then since we were there for Halloween, we had to recreate the famous V-Day kiss in Times Square! I have always loved that picture. And now I love it even more that I have one of my own. Honestly, I have fallen in love with that city. I love the busy hype. I also love feeling like I'm a person in a crowd. I hope that we can go back there and maybe even stay there someday.
Here's a video I made of our trip. Sadly, I used Taylor Swift's "Welcome to New York" as the background music so when I uploaded it to YouTube, they decided to mute it. But just press play on my video and that song at the same time or use your imagination. It's so much better with music I promise!
Then one of my very best friends FINALLY got home from his mission! The drama crew is finally complete. Going to his homecoming was like being with my big drama family again. I miss them and I absolutely adored being with them. I can't wait until we can get back together again! Speaking of which... I was put in charge of organizing a reunion.... I should probably get on that.
Then Utah decide to do it's thing and be super beautiful. The sunsets always amaze me, but when it reflects off of the snowcapped mountains, it's breath taking. It's moments like these that I know that this earth had to have been created by a loving God. If He would make the world this exquisite, He must really love us.
Then we went to the very last home football game of the season. We got pretty good seats again, but then left early so we could get home to help get ready for our pre-Thanksgiving dinner with the Kirkham family!
When we were home, we set up the Christmas tree and timed ourselves (as per tradition) and we got about 6 minutes faster than normal because we had an extra two hands this year! :) Then we got into roll making and pie making, getting ready for our pre-Thanksgiving dinner the next day. We had the Stuart family over for the dinner. It was so much fun being able to have both of our families there, all together. I was also really grateful to be able to spend a "Thanksgiving" with my family and be able to participate in the traditional cooking a holiday set up.
Then we headed out for Saint George for the Thanksgiving Break to spend with the Stuarts! We spent a lot of time watching Family Feud, playing Phase 10, four-wheeling and shooting. And lots more time being entertained by the the cute little boys. Jonny is such a good shot and is pretty attractive when he shoots, if I may say so myself.
Don't mind the dirt on my nose. #ronweasley but we'd just been four-wheeling to get to the shooting spot in the desert.
The best part was when we got an old TV, put some explosives in it and shot at it. Literally: BOOM. The glass came shattering all around us and gratefully didn't cut anyone. It was awesome!! This is a photo of what's left of that poor thing. From far away, it looked like it had literally disappeared and no longer existed... which is basically what happened! haha!
And now here we are. We just got the taste of freedom over Thanksgiving break and then had to return to the last two weeks of school. Gladly the first week is basically over... but at the same time that means it's that much closer to finals week, which I'm not really prepared for. Being in the advertising program is like a two-edged sword for finals. I never have to go to the testing center for finals... but that means that basically all of my finals are projects. That means that the next week is going to be a lot more stressful than actual finals week. So far, one group has changed our campaign probably 10 times which means we have to redo everything over and over again, in another class my teacher decided he wants to disclose the information class by class, which means I can't really start on my project until next Wednesday and in another class we only have a week left before our client flies in from NYC and we present directly to her. So it's a stressful time. If you have any extra prayers to be sent my way, they would be much appreciated!
But Winter break is right around the corner. There is light at the end of the tunnel!!
xoxo,
Angela
